Moynell Tucker

Moynell began a small bookkeeping operation on the back porch of her Effingham home well over 70 years ago. As the story goes, her daughters would occasionally be found napping next to her desk as she worked into the night.

Moynell’s first expansion took her to the basement of her home where she added a couple of employees. Some years later, she purchased a small office on Fayette Ave. in downtown Effingham. As family members and staff joined the firm, she expanded to a new location on Keller Drive in Effingham.

The expansion continued in 1999 when Moynell and her family purchased a 10,000 square foot office building that houses the accounting firm, as well as several other organizations.

Moynell, founder of Tucker Accounting, leaves behind a lasting legacy of integrity, commitment, and care for others. She will always be remembered as the heart of our firm.

Former President

Kelly Tucker, EA

Kelly was born and raised in Effingham IL. He attended Effingham High School and is a 1970 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. After graduating, he became a teacher, but shortly thereafter joined his mother’s growing accounting business. He has been an accountant and tax preparer for over 40 years.

Kelly had successfully completed the Enrolled Agent (EA) program and holds a record of completion for the Annual Filing Season Program. Kelly was well-versed at all types of business accounting and was an expert at individual tax preparation.

Kelly is deeply missed at Tucker Accounting. His kindness, sense of humor, and love of golf left a lasting mark on all of us—there isn’t a fairway or a conversation that doesn’t bring him to mind.

President

Josh Tucker, AFSP, RTRP

Josh was born and raised in Effingham IL. After managing the family-owned bookstore, he decided to join the accounting firm, making him a third-generation owner of Tucker Accounting Service. He has been with the company for 25 years.

Josh has completed the Internal Revenue Service’s RTRP Program. He holds a record of completion for the Annual Filing Season Program. Josh specializes in individual tax preparation and business accounting.

Secretary

Darrell Hoffman, AFSP,RTRP

Darrell was born and raised in Island Lake IL. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 1982, he married Kelly’s sister, Julie in 1984.

Shortly thereafter, Darrell joined the family business and has been an accountant and tax preparer for 40 years. He specializes in small, mid, and large-size business accounting, as well as tax preparation for individuals and all types of business entities.
